Focus
888, you probably know what it symbolize, chinese lucky number. there are 2 remarkable events that currently used that lucky number, i. e. the olympic games and convocation at least in Australia. jean, xu-xanna, and caroline were graduating yesterday. yea they have closed the chapter of their uni life and now bigger challenge is yet to come. i believe they will be fine. i'm glad that i know them. they have influenced me in such a way that inspired to see how wonderful God has used them to touch everybody's life. you probably want to know how they inspired me, don't you? they look after each other, viz, when one falls the other picks up. the bond is very tight that it is impossible to break. this is the thing that i learned from them. not only that they also make the life of the people surrounding them colourful, i.e. full of laughters and fellowship.congratulations yea after all the chit chats, hugs, kisses, and free foods of course we came back to centenary building to have our bible study. as the members were scattered all over, the groups were sort of like mergering from one connect group to the other connect group. haha it was okay though. we decided to share few testimonies instead of going through the bible study. it was all started from ghost stories, yea my mom's ghost stories. Anna came up with lots of questions, one after another. But most importantly, we began to open to one another. we shared our struggles and how God has wonderfully rescued us, as he always does, from our stumbling blocks. i realised somehow that our testimonies wrapped up all that we have to study on that night, i.e. radical treatment for sin (1 john 1:8-10). 'if we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and we are calling God as a liar and His words have no place in our hearts. but if we confess that we are sinners, He's faithful and just'. from this passage, it imparts to us that we have to acknowledge our sinful nature. what the sinful nature gives is to always focus on OURSELVES-we are powerful, i can do it or you are actually saying i dont need God. this always will lead us to dissappointment and failure (Romans 7-14-20). However, (v) 9 gives a way out. as soon as we confess our sin, God's truth will cleanse our heart. He'll help us to walk in His light. here, our focus shifts from ONE SELF to GOD. we are no longer slaved to sin but slave to rightenousness. shaun ewe shown an illustration of this point as we were going through the bible study on thursday. he took a light bulb and placed in the place we the sun shone through the window. he asked me to imagine that the light bulb as me. you know what i found, the shadow. this shadow represents darkness where sin and self-centreness always reside. But, if you on the light bulb, the shadow disappeared. the light portrays God and this is where God in the centre of our lives and accordingly, darkness or shadow has no place any longer. seriously, the scripture speaks to me because no matter how hard i try, i always fail. my main focus was on Me Myself. but when God takes place, He moves mightly and changes things. do not live according to the flesh but live according to the spirit.
